What is New in the Weed World?

This presentation will cover the latest hot topics in the weed science area as it relates to weed management practices in corn and soybean. It will cover the latest research on hard to control weeds, new regulations regarding dicamba use in soybeans, and the latest information on new herbicide resistance treats that will be commercialized in 2019.

Biography

Dr. Johnson is a Professor of Weed Science in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Purdue University. He has statewide responsibilities for weed science research and extension in agronomic crops, and he teaches Advanced Weed Biology and Senior Seminar. Dr. Johnson has extensive experience in the biology and management of herbicide-resistant weeds and crops, weed control with cover crops, and interactions between weeds and other plant pests. Dr. Johnson is a Past President and Fellow of the North Central Weed Science Society (NCWSS). He has won Outstanding Extension Specialist Awards from Purdue University, CropLife America, and the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA). He has published over 120 peer reviewed manuscripts and over 100 extension publications.  He has trained 30 graduate students and currently has an additional 5 students currently working on MS or Ph.D. degrees in Weed Science.
