Herbicide Resistance Update: How Much Trouble Are We Asking For?

Weed populations in Indiana and adjacent states continue to evolve and survive our most critical herbicides, including waterhemp growing back from 2,4-D, dicamba, glufosinate, and HPPD-inhibiting herbicides.  The group 15 herbicides have become a staple for use in both corn and soybean for soil residual control of waterhemp.  Thus, our current weed management practices must be scrutinized to build more robust management strategies or we face broad-scale resistance to all important herbicide groups sooner than later.
