Key Management Practices for Successful Malt Barley Production
Producing a barley crop that meets the strict standards for malt can be challenging. Some of the key management practices that impact the quality factors that are needed in a barley crop intended for malt include: site selection, rotations, variety selection, planting date, soil fertility management, disease management and harvest timing. This presentation will discuss how these factors can impact malt quality and will provide information on best practices for each in each of these topics so that growers can improve the likelihood of producing a barley crop that “makes malt”.
