What “tools” are necessary for an individual to succeed in the production and utilization of forages? “Tools” discussed ought to be used by producers and their crop advisors to ensure that most success happens wherever forages are grown. What do you use now? What should be purchased?

Keith Johnson, Purdue University Professor of Agronomy, is a native of York, Nebraska. He was introduced to agriculture as a youth and the family has great pride in the farm today. He was an active member in 4-H and FFA. These positive experiences resulted in his attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and majoring in Agronomy and Animal Sciences. Upon completion of the Bachelor’s Degree, he went to Purdue University and received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees. His area of specialty is forages. His career has been spent at Purdue University. The multiple benefits that forages provide society and the opportunity to work with and learn about many plant species provide day-to-day challenges and a satisfying career.
