Maira Duffeck

Maira Duffeck is a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Pierce Paul in the Department of Plant Pathology at The Ohio State University. She earned her B.Sc. in Agronomy from the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFC), Brazil, and her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Brazil, under the guidance of Dr. Emerson Del Ponte. During her Ph.D., she also worked for two years as a visiting scholar in Dr. Paul Esker’s group in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology at The Pennsylvania State University (PSU). Her research focused on epidemiology and integrated management of plant diseases, with an emphasis on understanding the basic biology and ecology of plant pathogens and using this information to develop disease management tools for practical application.
